- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p
- Assignment Length: 3-Month minimum with option to extend
- The Family Medicine Physician is responsible for the effec ti ve delivery of high-quality medical services to individuals with intellectual disabili ti es served.
- Work involves direct delivery of clinical prac ti ces and monitoring of medical services, par ti cipating in treatment team process, advocate for the medical needs of persons service, and working with the individual's families, Family Nurse Prac titi oners, and with consultants and community medical providers in other medical specialty areas.
- This posi ti on reports directly to the Administra t ive Medical Director and works under limited supervision with considerable la ti tude for the use of ini ti ative and independent judgment.
- Order, perform, and interpret tests and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose condition.
- Consul ti ng with pa ti ents to understand their symptoms and health concerns.
- Advise clients concerning diet, ac ti vity, hygiene, and disease preven ti on.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses and coordina ti on of care services to effec ti vely treat orthopedic and medical condi ti ons, such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, asthma.
- Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medica ti on, vaccina ti on, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments.
- Compliance with HHSC and facility documenta ti on ti meframe requirements.
- Provides and monitors facility Standard Opera ti ng Procedures to meet standards for compliance with accredi ti ng agencies; specifically, Medicaid Medicare guidelines, CMS Standards, DSSLC Policy and Direc ti ves and HHSC Standards, Rules and Directives
